Education plays a vital role in building character of a person and making him a better citizen. With this intention Phule Samaj Sudharak Samiti’s Shahir Annabhau Sathe Mahavidyalaya, Mukhed was established in 1990 with the aim to give higher education for backward and marginalized students of this rural area. At the beginning the science stream was introduced and later in 1992 arts stream was introduced. The college is running with the motto Nothing is more sacred than wisdom in this world Nahi Dnyanena Sadrudhya pavitra miha Vidhyate). At present This Institution is affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded Maharashtra.

One of the visionary people of this town our founder member Late Shri Madhukarrao Ghate had started this college in a small building in 1990. Later on the college was moved to its campus of 11.5 acres which was inaugurated on 2nd January 1999 by the auspicious hands of honorable former chief Minister Shri. Vilasrao ji Deshmukh and Honorable Shri Prataprao ji Bhosale, Maharashtra Congress Party President. The college has a beautiful campus with Indoor Hall, Swimming Pool with 19 Ph.D faculties among 07 faculties are guiding research students as Research Guide in various disciplines. Apart from providing quality education and research facility in their respective subjects, the college provides different facilities to the students to build their character. The college is committed to aim of building young generation having strong knowledge base, character and concern for down trodden people in the society. The NSS department of the college promotes all round development of the students through the different social and cultural activities. The Cultural department of the college also encourages the students to participate in various competitions organized by university. The Sports Department is active in the college and has achieved special excellence by participating in various competitions at the Central Zone, C Zone, Regional, State, and National level. Also, on behalf of the college, various sports tournaments were organized at Central Zone, C Zone, and State Level. The students of the college have won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals and trophies in various sports. The Cultural department of the college train the students to participate in various cultural activities held at university level and State level competitions. There is record of our students have got many medals in the competitions.

The college is glorified due to visionary Governing Management body, eminent Principles and dedicated teaching & non-teaching staff. The different college committees monitor the students and guide them in a proper way. The college had been recognized by UGC in and it was under 2(f) till 1973 and received 12(b) recognition. It has undergone one cycle of accreditation by the NAAC in 2005 and it was accredited with C++ Grade. It has also AISHE and NIRF-2022 registration.
